OK, this is where we stick our necks out and say what we think might be the best toys for Christmas 2012.
Our Xmas gift gurus started the year at the London Toy Fair for exclusive insights into the hot new toys. Since then, we've been keeping a close eye on new releases and other toy fair announcements, and we'll be posting ideas and details over the next few months.

Doctor Who Series 7 toys
Fans desperate for a hint of the new BBC TV Doctor Who series 7 content only had to attend the London Toy Fair back in January 2012 to get some pretty strong hints! On display were various new Doctor Who toys, including new Dalek figures, and three extraordinary new toys; the Personal TARDIS, the Dalek/Cyberman Anti-Time Device and the Trans-temporal Sonic Screwdriver. Inflatable RC Star Wars R2D2 from Bladez
R2D2, everyone's favourite droid, stole our hearts at the London Toy Fair in January 2012. This radio controlled R2D2 is easy to inflate, and comes with a chunky, simple remote suitable for younger hands. Best of all, knock R2D2 down and he'll bounce upright again. Lego Friends
This year, construction toys finally realised that they were missing 50% of the market, namely girls! Enter Lego Friends, five girls living a dream life in Heartlake City. iHOG
Although we only saw the prototype at the London Toy Fair, we love to the look of this Biggles style pig with his flying goggles. If he flies as well as he looks, many people will be able to say "Pigs can fly" this Christmas! More about the iHOG |

Mike the Knight
Knights in shining armour aren't exactly new on the toy scene, but this year they will be more prominent than ever with the launch of the TV series Mike the Knight, promoting chivalrous behaviour and lots of sword wielding!
